Biography
Carrie is the Chief Operating Officer of Kepler, a university program in Rwanda dedicated to reinventing higher education. Kepler, in partnership with College for America at Southern New Hampshire University, offers students in East Africa the opportunity to earn a US Bachelor's degree while studying in Rwanda. Since starting at Kepler in August 2015, Carrie has led the process of reducing per student costs by 50% to refine the economic model and building operational systems to prepare for growth.
Carrie began her work in Rwanda in 2012 as the Academic Director for the Akilah Institute for Women. In December 2013, she moved to Burundi to launch Akilah's second campus. Previously, she served as the National Program Director of Girls For A Change for 7 years overseeing strategy and program implementation. She also worked as a consultant with Collective Action Training, a company she co-founded in 2007. Carrie graduated from the University of San Francisco in May 2012 with an MA in International and Multicultural Education with an emphasis in Human Rights Education. She was a 2011-12 AAUW Career Development Grant Recipient and also serves as a founding member of the Program Advisory Board for The Respect Institute.
