A 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry, John Pritzker is the founder of Geolo Capital, a private equity firm. Under his leadership, Geolo Capital orchestrated the merger of Joie de Vivre Hospitality and the luxury lifestyle Thompson Hotels brand, forming the parent company Commune Hotels & Resorts. Commune Hotels manages more than forty hotels throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
Pritzker joined Hyatt Hotels Corporation, in 1972 working his way up to Managing Director and Divisional Vice President of Hyatt Hotels and Resort. After Pritzker departed Hyatt in 1988 he was a founding board member of TicketMaster, Inc. and Chemdex/Ventro Corporation. Additionally, Pritzker has served as Chairman and CEO of a number of businesses in the hospitality industry including Red Sail Sports and The Odyssey Club (now Exclusive Resorts).
In addition to his contributions within the travel industry, Pritzker currently serves on the boards of the University of California San Francisco Foundation, UCSF Chancellor’s Board, the Osher Family Foundation and as President of the Lisa and John Pritzker Family Fund. With his wife Lisa they have three sons.
