Biography
Lina Nilsson is the Innovation Director at the Blum Center for Developing Economies at the University of California Berkeley. At the Blum Center’s Development Impact Lab (DIL), she designs financial and technical support platforms for scaling of university innovations for global impact (from ‘lab bench to community’). She also runs the Center’s On-Ramp, a pre-accelerator program for early stage innovators.
She is a member of the Global Health Advisory Board at Investors' Circle, and has previously worked on novel TB diagnostics in Vietnam.
Lina is also the founder of Tekla Labs, a consortium that creates and curates free and interactive instructions that researchers across the globe can use to build standard laboratory equipment using locally available supplies.
Lina has a Dr.sc from the ETH Zurich and is a recipient of the ETH Medal for her doctoral thesis work. In 2013, she was recognized as a MIT Tech Review Innovator under 35.
