Biography

2007-present Executive Director & Member of the Board of Directors
•Led the organization to build more than 2500 communities in nearly every province in the country, helping uplift the lives of 70K poor families. And more than 3,000 houses in Haiyan affected areas
•Opened GK communities as a genuine convergence platform of the public and private sectors towards nation building
•Re-built and re-organized the GK backbone to ready GK for greater and
sustainable scale
•Developed the heart of GK’s formation program – “Brother’s Keeper” – for fulltime workers, partners and community members alike
•Achieved global recognition for GK from Skoll Foundation and Ernst & Young for the “GK Way” template of ending poverty

Led the organization into the relief and reconstruction efforts in Haiyan struck areas, Bohol earthquake, and Zamboanga siege 2013. Led the BayaniChalllenge 2014 whose activities were attended by 1.7M volunteers that helped in the reconstruction and “Kalinga sa Bayan” (Township Development) activities in the different areas affected by Haiyan, 2013 Earthquake, 2013 Zamboanga Siege. Rebuilt and reconstructed communities affected by Typhoons Washi and Bopha.

2003-2006 Chief Operations Officer
•Largely expanded the work to 50 more provinces, including war-torn Sulu, by engaging the Local Government Units and setting up local GK teams
•Orchestrated Kalinga Luzon, a massive, multi-sectoral PHP 100M house reconstruction initiative for Typhoon Xangsane (Milenyo) victims in 2006
•Grew GK’s army of nation-builders with the “1MB Isang Milyong Bayani” (or One Million Heroes) Campaign
•Paved the way for a renewal of Christian-Muslim ties, with the Highway of Peace project in Sulu, where the first Muslim GK community was built

1999-2002 National Coordinator
•Pioneered the work of GawadKalinga with founder Tony Meloto, with the mission of providing land for the landless, homes for the homeless, and food for the hungry
