Malcolm Curtis is a strong supporter of fair trade principles and joined Shared Interest in 1999 having previously worked for Nat West Bank. As Customer Services Manager he leads the lending team that provides finance to 150 fair trade businesses through export credit facilities, term loans and lines of credit. Customers are producers and importers of fair trade craft and food products based in 35 countries and the funds for lending come from share capital of £30m raised from 9000 individual investors in the UK. He represents Shared Interest on the Council of Smallholder Agricultural Finance and sits on the board of the World Fair Trade Organisation.
