Biography

I was born in the Dominican Republic and lived there until the age of 18. I was educated in a Lycée Français and grew up speaking Spanish at home and French at school. I left the Dominican Republic in 2002 and went to Paris to attend a Classe Préparatoire where I focused on French Literature and Music Theory. My year in Paris was a challenge I embraced with great courage and autonomy but I was deeply unhappy because the academic rigour and lifestyle did not allow me to pursue activities outside of study. I therefore decided to move to the UK where I did my BA in English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Warwick (2003-06) and where I became involved with the international community. I then pursued my MA at King's College in London in Critical Methodologies (2006-07) before going back to Dominican Republic to work as a journalist for a year. Since 2008 I have been living and studying in Oxford where I have just completed my DPhil in Modern Languages with a specific focus on urban spaces in contemporary poetry. I love playing volleyball, practising yoga, dancing and writing poetry. In the last 3 years, I have become more interested in Social Enterprise. I hope to create change in the world through education.
