Biography

As an Acting Principal at the Skoll Foundation, Susie Lee develops and structures investments to drive large-scale change in the Skoll Foundation’s focus areas and manages key relationships with funded social entrepreneurs, domain experts, policy makers, corporate partners and cofunders. Susie partners with entrepreneurs globally and her portfolio includes organizations based in China, India, the US and Latin America. With the breadth of a generalist, Susie leads the Skoll Foundation’s work in Sustainable Markets, which focuses on innovations that harness the power of markets, companies and investors to drive large scale systems change in issues ranging from human rights to environmental sustainability. She also covers education and economic opportunity, with particular experience in technology-enabled innovations that drive scale.

Susie joined Skoll as a continuation of her experience in and passion for supporting the growth of entrepreneurs, scaling up the organizations they lead, and investing in innovations with potential for large-scale impact. She brings fifteen years of cross-sector experience anchored by over a decade of direct investing in private equity and venture capital in the US and Latin America. In addition, her experience includes work at Stanford, Google, JP Morgan and serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA Entrepreneur Corps fellow at New Sector Alliance. Prior to Skoll, Susie was a principal of TBL Capital, a venture fund focused on producing social and environmental impact through investments in early- to growth-stage companies. She served as a board director for four companies in clean energy, sustainable food systems, consumer packaged goods and software. Previously, Susie was a director of IGNIA Fund. Based in Mexico, she helped build the firm as a pioneer in the marketplace for impact-focused venture capital, investing in entrepreneurs addressing issues of access to affordable health care, housing, technology and education for the Base of the Pyramid population. Susie led both funds’ participation in B Lab’s Global Impact Investing Ratings System (GIIRS) initiative and has been an active public speaker on the topics of social entrepreneurship, impact, talent development, and innovative business models and capital structures that help address the world’s most pressing problems.

Susie attended the MBA program at the Wharton School, and earned her BA in History from Columbia University.
