Upskilling Workers for the Future of Work

Thursday, April 2, 2020

Session Description

The global skills gap traps workers in low-wage, dead-end jobs and caps the growth of small businesses. The problem is particularly acute in Africa, which will see 15-20M youth enter the workforce every year for the next three decades, the majority of whom are ill-prepared to integrate into the world of work.

Join us to as we convene capacity building and workforce experts from the public, private and social sector to explore the skills that workers need to break out of dead-end work and future-proof their careers. We'll discuss the best way to bridge the broken education to employment pathway, how to make continuous learning accessible to frontline as well as white collar workers, and the best way to build behavioral nudges into workplace learning.

The SkillNav team has developed a “skills GPS” that helps jobseekers identify and master in-demand skills and continuously boost worker performance on the job. We look forward to discussing best practices and exploring partnerships to bridge education (SDG4) and employment (SDG8) in your community.
