Agathe Bourgon

Programme Manager, Montpelier Foundation

Biography

Based out of London, Montpelier Foundation funds organisations that give the world’s disadvantaged the skills and resources to improve their lives. We focus on Transitional Education – supporting young adults into further education, training or employment – as well as on Rural Livelihoods – supporting smallholder farmers and their communities create and increase incomes. We provide grants, loans and investments. Our partners are located in Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and South-East Asia.

I joined the Foundation since inception in March 2013. I look after our Transitional Education portfolio, as well as one of two UK SIBs we have invested in, which targets teenage pupils at risk of being not in education, training or employment. I am also heavily involved with the strategy and work of our sister foundation Peru Opportunity Fund, which supports smallholder farming.

My background is in procurement, business and operations. I spent three years working for an operations consulting firm, helping its clients improve the value they get out of marketing services. I hold a Masters in Management, Organisations and Governance from the London School of Economics and a French-Spanish bachelors degree in Business Administration. France, Mexico and India are countries particularly close to my heart.
