Executive Director, Peace and Security Funders Group
Alexandra I. Toma is the Executive Director of the Peace and Security Funders Group, an association of private, public and family foundations, and individual philanthropists, focused on peace, conflict and national security issues. PSFG members support over $300M per year on these issues and it's Alex's job to help them do so effectively and efficiently.
Alex has experience at senior levels of politics, government, advocacy and philanthropic organizations. In 2011, Alex was named a “Top 99 Under 33” foreign policy leader by Diplomat Courier and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. In 2009, she launched the Fissile Materials Working Group, a non-governmental coalition of more than 75 U.S. and international organizations providing action-oriented policy solutions to keep the world safe from nuclear terrorism. Prior to her nonprofit experience, Alex served as a foreign policy advisor to Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-MA). She enjoys teaching a graduate-level class at the George Washington University, and speaking and writing on national security, foreign policy, and philanthropy issues.
