Andrew Webb

Biography

Andrew is currently CEO of SolarAid, having worked at a senior level in the UK and internationally for the last 20 years.

Andrew was a Shell Scholarship student at Imperial College studying for a Masters in Chemical Engineering before joining Proctor and Gamble working in brand marketing. It didn't take long for him to see the light, do a second Masters degree in Water and Public Health Engineering and started working in a start-up community health organisation in Cameroon and Tanzania and subsequently at HelpAge International in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan.

After a stint of working in the UK, and wanting to combine his strong commercial instincts with working on social justice issues, Andrew went to London Business School emerging as a Sloan Fellow in 2001 and winning the inaugural Entrepreneur's Summer School prize. Andrew then worked in the start-up of UnLtd, and then for 5 years as Director of Development at International Alert, the world's largest international peacebuilding NGO. Just before joining SolarAid Andrew was CEO of Action for Brazil's Children Trust and the start-up CEO of the Street Child World Cup a global campaign for the rights of street children.
