Biography

Barbara Jones is a dedicated to helping end gender based violence. She is a philanthropist, civic leader and community volunteer, and a founding member of the Maverick Collective, an initiative led by Population Services International (PSI) and co-chaired by Her Royal Highness Mette-Marit and Melinda Gates to transform the lives of girls and women and lift them out of poverty. Through Maverick Collective, she is piloting a new approach to empower communities and local health clinics to address gender-based violence in Myanmar.
After raising three children, she has turned her energy to addressing gender based violence, to support for women and children worldwide, mental health and education. She was a founding member of WANDA, a California nonprofit that helps lift single mothers out of poverty. She is a supporter of Human Rights Watch, Global Fund for Women, The School Fund, GAIA, Eastside Prep and SV2.
She currently serves on the Board of Regents at Georgetown University and the Board of Family and Children Services of Silicon Valley. She is a member of the California Executive Committee North of Human Rights Watch, a Trustee of the Nantucket Atheneum, and past President of the Nantucket Garden Club.
