Biography

With over 20 years of international experience with nonprofit organizations, corporations and the U.S. government, Carol has practical experience with exploring and designing effective approaches to development challenges. At Mercy Corps, she has applied her knowledge to an array of development issues, from to livelihoods and economic opportunities to disaster recovery. With direct experience in Asia and Africa, she is adept at identifying solutions to complex situations and adapting to changing environments. A central focus of her work has been developing partnerships - between donors, with corporations, or local organizations. Prior work experience includes the U.S. Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, the National Geographic Society and the East-West Center.

Currently Carol is focused on the Innovation Investment Alliance, a partnership between the Skoll Foundation and USAID, where she is developing investments in high-impact social entrepreneurs to scale proven, innovative approaches to some of the world’s most pressing issues. An important aspect of the work is measuring impact and widely sharing results.
