Dan Fast

Program CoordinatorSPECT

Biography

Dan is a Program Coordinator representing Sterile Processing Education Charitable Trust (SPECT). SPECT was founded by Christina Fast (his daughter) after several volunteer trips on the Africa Mercy Ship in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Republic of the Congo. While working on the ship, Christina visited several hospitals and discovered that post-operative infection rates were extremely high. She became convinced that she could do something to decrease these rates. Upon returning to Canada, she began the process of establishing an organization focused on raising the standards for sterile processing in low to middle income countries. She returned to Africa several times since 2011 to increase her knowledge of the issues, assess local situations, and begin an educational program with local staff. She has big dreams for the future.

Dan has an MBA and undergrad degree in agriculture. He has worked on projects in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, New Zealand and Canada. He has become passionate about his daughter's vision and is looking to get more involved.
