Biography
Dr. Manoncourt is the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for The Grandmother Project, which promotes engaging grandmothers as agents of change and supports intergenerational dialogue to promote community action to support the empowerment of girls and young women. She is also is the founding President of M&D Consulting Inc. and a retired UN official who worked sixteen years with UNICEF – both at Headquarters and at country level where her most recent posting was as Country Representative in the Arab Republic of Egypt (2005-2010). Prior to joining the United Nations, Dr. Manoncourt was an Assistant Professor at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in the Department of Applied Health Sciences where she headed the Health Communication Unit. A social-behavioural scientist by training, Dr. Manoncourt holds a Ph.D. in Health Behaviour from the University of North Carolina (USA) and a Master’s Degree in Social Work (clinical specialization).
