Biography

Julian is a software engineer, entrepreneur and change maker from Australia with an interest in the purposeful application of technology to solve real world problems.

After graduating with honours in Computer & Mathematical Science in 2002 he founded Unified, which has since delivered major ICT & Digital Transformation (DX) projects to global clients including IBM, Microsoft, Toyota, Rio Tinto, all tiers of Government, NGOs & NFPs.

More recently, Julian has founded several successful startups and has been invited to Silicon Valley, Israel and Singapore to showcase and collaborate with diverse groups from across industry, academia & Government.

Julian's university thesis dealt with the use of assistive technology to improve outcomes in enabled living, aged care and independent living. Julian was also selected as the Western Australian representative for the Australian Government's AusIndustry ICT Industry Entrepreneur Accelerator Program. This was hosted in Sydney at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) and run in partnership with the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA).

At the 2016 AGM, Julian was elected to the Chair for the AIIA in WA. Founded in 1978, the AIIA is Australia's peak body for the ICT & Digital ecosystem and represents global companies such as Amazon, Apple, Adobe, Gartner, Google, Intel, Microsoft, as well as Deloitte, EY, KPMG & PwC and a large number of ISVs, SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups.

Prior to being elected as Chair, Julian served as the inaugural Industry Engagement & Inclusion Liaison for AIIA - responsible for improving outreach, inclusion & diversity outcomes across various sectors, driving international collaboration and delivering a number of unique Australian agreements.

Julian also serves as Australian Ambassador for the Global Engineering Excellence Centre (GEEC), integrating Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship to tackle the world's biggest problems.
