Kathryn S. Hanson, Ph.D., CEO and Founder, ALearn
Dr. Hanson is Founder and CEO of ALearn. ALearn is an educational non-profit dedicated to getting students from underserved, low income backgrounds on the path to college through math, growth mindset and college readiness programs. Now in its 10th year, ALearn will have served over 10,000 by mid 2017, getting many students on the path to college and life success.
Before ALearn, she was President of The Hanson Group, a strategy and marketing consulting firm for high technology and Internet companies. Her clients included the following technology companies: Hewlett-Packard, Sun, Silicon Graphics, National Semiconductor and many Internet and software companies.
She was a founder of eMentoring, an elearning company which merged into Pensare; and a co-founder of Satmetrix, a Customer Satisfaction Internet Software company. Hanson has served on many Boards, for public, private and non-profit institutions. She currently serves on the Board of Trident, an online university serving the military, as well as the ALearn Board. She has a BA in English with Distinction from Stanford University, a MA and a Ph.D. in English from University of Chicago, and a MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
Kathryn was named one of Silicon Valley's Women of Influence for the year 2011 by the San Jose Business Journal. She was honored as a Purpose Prize Fellow by Civic Ventures in 2012. In 2013, she was an American Leadership Forum Silicon Valley Fellow, and honored as Harvard Business School’s 100 Women of California as part of its celebration of 50 years of women at HBS. In 2014, Kathryn was named "Los Altan of the Year."
