Biography

Mark Cheng is the Senior European Director of Ashoka, the global network of the world's leading social entrepreneurs. Since 1981, Ashoka has elected and supported more than 3,000 'Ashoka Fellows' in over 80 countries, leading systemic change and tackling social problems in every field of social innovation.

Ashoka is dedicated to fostering an 'everyone a changemaker' world where people everywhere, regardless of background, possess the core skills of empathy, leadership, teamwork, resilience and creativity to lead social change. In addition to its global network of Fellows, Ashoka works with leaders in education and in business. Ashoka has elected a network of over 200 schools worldwide which are inspirational examples of helping young people become changemakers, as well as a global network of business leaders who are leading social change.

At Ashoka, Mark leads the team across Europe, with a network of over 400 Ashoka Fellows and 50 Changemaker Schools in 15 countries. Mark is also active in helping build Ashoka in East Asia, particularly Singapore and Hong Kong.

Mark is also the founder of Chelwood Capital, a social investment firm. He is an internationally recognized social finance expert and investor who has worked with dozens of social entrepreneurs in raising social finance. He writes frequently on social innovation and finance.
