Biography

Melody McCoy is the Vice President of External Relations and Communication for Jhpiego, an international charitable organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. She is a passionate advocate on behalf of women and the world’s most vulnerable populations. Having joined Jhpiego in 2008, she has led the effort to improve the domestic reputation of the organization and has secured coverage national and international coverage for the organizations work, has developed a strong Advisory Council and donor strategy and maintained a significant presence for the organization within the United States government.

In her current position at Jhpiego she is responsible for oversight of Jhpiego’s media and communications strategy, government affairs, individual donor and local foundation relations.

Ms. McCoy has an MSW from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She comes to Jhpiego with extensive experience in government affairs, communications and development. Having worked for the United States Congress in government and community relations for 6 years, she has also worked for several executives in state and local government.

Ms. McCoy in her time as a Director of government affairs for the Maryland Jewish Alliance led the state-wide effort to divest the Maryland government from any holdings or business transactions with Iran. The bill passed both houses and was approved by almost unanimous vote.

An accomplished professional with extensive experience in both government affairs and communications, Ms. McCoy has traveled to some of the world’s most remote locations in an effort to bring attention to needless suffering.
