Biography
Nafi is passionate about promoting women’s rights in African and globally. In her role at the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), she works with women-led organizations to build their leadership capacity and to enable them advocate for inclusive decision making processes that affects the lives of women. Through this work, she has gained insights into stories of success and failure among different organizations across Africa.
She is also an institutional fundraiser who raised US$2, 73 million for her programme in 2012. She was twice a speaker on Donor Rendezvous at the International Workshop on Resource Mobilisation organised by the Resource Alliance, UK, in Kampala, Uganda. She is the initiator and co-trainer of the Resource Mobilisation Development Boot Camps, an annual event organised by AWDF for women’s organisations in Africa.
Nafi began her career with Oxfam GB, where she worked in Northern Ghana on issues of economic empowerment, livelihoods and health. She is an alumina of University of Reading, UK and Cape Coast University, Ghana.
Nafi Chinery is a 2014 Aspen New Voices Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
