Biography

Sustainable development in Africa has been Natalie Miller’s life and passion for over a decade. The last 8 years she has lived and worked in Africa, having moved to South Africa to start and build the Southern & Central Africa regions for the global not-for-profit Operation Smile, funded primarily by local donors. In 2009/10 she attended Saïd Business School at Oxford University where she served as co-Chair of the Africa Business Group and was selected as a Skoll Associate. While at SBS she worked as a consultant for Columbia University’s Earth Institute and Vale Mining in Mozambique and lived and worked in Zambia for a summer-long strategic consulting project with a local start-up focused on banking for the unbanked. She returned to Africa as VP, Africa for Operation Smile and later as Global VP, International Business Development. In late 2013 she started ZARUS Group focused primarily on supporting NPOs and for-profits with a social mission with business development/local fundraising, partnership-building, country assessments and starting up country offices. She is also working with a partner to start-up NeedLinkage, a NPO focused on connecting skilled professionals interested in giving their time and expertise and NPOs and entrepreneurs lacking those skills or the resources to attain them. She is also a trainer and mentor for entrepreneurs in South Africa with the Business Bridge.
