Biography

Robert Poynton designs, facilitates and runs workshops and programmes for leaders and executives (see www.robertpoynton.com).

Over 20 years he has developed an approach based on improvisational theatre that helps people navigate and prosper in complex, emergent, changing circumstances. He has authored two books exploring the value of improvisation in everyday life and work, entitled Everything’s an Offer and Do Improvise.

Together with Gary Hirsch, he co-founded On Your Feet, a US based consultancy that uses improv based ideas, tools and methods to create experiential learning events for clients like Intel, Nike, Disney and GE.

At Oxford, where he is an Associate Fellow at the Saïd Business School, he he tutors and facilitates Executive leadership progammes. He is also an Associate Fellow of Green Templeton College where he designs and runs events for Oxford Praxis Forum research centre. He has led courses at IE in Madrid, Ashridge Business School and Schumacher College.

He also runs highly creative individual and group executive retreats to Spain, where he lives in an off grid house in the mountains of the Sierra de Gredos with his wife (who runs an organic beef farm) and three sons.

Robert has a BA Honours Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from New College, Oxford.
