Biography

Samantha Akins serves as Pro Mujer’s Chief Relationship Officer, she leads the design and development of innovative approaches that use technology and data to address the financial, health and entrepreneurship needs of women in Latin America. Samantha manages the organization’s relationships with national and international investors, donors and partners. Samantha Prior to joining Pro Mujer, Samantha oversaw Grameen Foundation’s strategical partnerships and led program design and partnership for their global initiatives. Prior to joining Grameen Foundation she served as the Deputy Director for a USAID funded policy reform program in Colombia.

Samantha has over 17 years of experience managing complex international development projects while working closely with host governments and international donors. She has more than 10 years’ experience managing USAID funded economic growth programs throughout Latin America. She has extensive experience with agriculture and rural development, workforce development and job creation, decentralization and public service delivery and the use of mobile technology for financial inclusion, health and Ag.

Samantha has a Master of Science in Social Policy and Planning in Developing Countries from the London School of Economics. She also has a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Economics from George Washington University. Her specialties include agricultural finance, economic growth, policy reform, and using mobile technology for financial inclusion and development.
