Biography

Wendy Cukier, VP of Research and Innovation at Ryerson University, Canada’s first Ashoka Changemaker campus is the coauthor of the bestseller “Innovation Nation” and has spent more of her career with social enterprises in the intersections of technology, education, health and equity. She founded the Coalition for Gun Control, the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) and Ryerson’s Diversity Institute. She has advised governments and NGOs in Mexico, France, Austria, UK, South Africa, Trinidad, Australia, and Brazil. She received the Governor General's Meritorious Cross, one of Canada’s highest civilian honours, and was among the University of Toronto's “100 Alumni Who Shaped the Century”. She was named one of 25 Transformational Canadians by The Globe and Mail, La Presse and CTV, a YWCA Women of Distinction, and among Canada’s 25 Women of Influence. She holds a PhD, an MA and an MBA. She was also awarded an honorary doctorates by Laval University and Concordia University
