Co-creating a systems change evaluation methodology

Friday, April 3, 2020

Session Description

A lot has been written on why we need more systems change, such as NPC (2015), Ashoka and McKinsey (2020). There have been some attempts, though only a few, at measuring systems change – perhaps as systems change is vast and non-linear, measuring seems difficult. Given the increasing interest in systems change, this is the perfect time to convene stakeholders to consider how to measure systems change, so we can learn from what works and rapidly build the evidence base.

Some existing evaluation methodologies, such as process tracing and outcomes mapping, have been cited as more effective than others in measuring systems change. But practitioners are still grappling with the complexity of measuring systems change.

We at The Social Investment Consultancy (TSIC) have been making use of interdisciplinary methodologies and challenges the notion of 'hard to measure'. We would like to facilitate a discussion on the possibility of co-creating a new systems change measurement methodology, using the 5R framework (Results, Roles, Relationships, Rules and Resources).

If you are interested in evaluation, systems change, or just want to have a stimulating conversation on a Friday, join us!
