Celebrating 20 years of the Skoll World Forum

February 6, 2024

As we look forward to the 2024 Skoll World Forum, we’re reminded of last year’s week in Oxford and the significance that 2023 represented. Joined by more than 1,400 attendees, we celebrated our 20th year coming together since the inaugural Skoll World Forum in 2004.

The forum may have grown in magnitude in the time since, when fewer than 300 attendees came together in Oxford, but in spirit it has remained constant. The forum was launched to bring social innovators from all over the world to work collaboratively on the most tenacious and pressing problems. It has always been a space for innovative minds from every sector; a gathering of good people doing good things.

In this video celebrating last year’s 20th anniversary, director Lindsay Branham illustrates the history and impact of the Skoll World forum in partnership with the producers at Gnarly Bay by telling the story of social innovation from the perspective of CAMFED Executive Director of Learning & Engagement, Lydia Wilbard, alongside fellow Skoll Awardees including Last Mile Health, Ceres, and myAgro.

Over the past 20 years, we’ve been honored to accelerate progress toward systems change by bringing together and supporting an inspiring community of more than 200 Skoll Awardees and grantee partners, a diverse community of social innovators driving large-scale change in their communities. But even as we reflect on how much progress we’ve made, we look forward to where this community may yet go in the many years to come.
