1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People: Design for Radical Collaboration

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

Session Description

As the pivotal ‘Decade of Action’ for the SDGs gets underway, 100s of landscape partnerships worldwide are forging holistic strategies to integrate food, water and health security; sustainable livelihoods; biodiversity; climate action; and inclusive green economies. They align the actions of all stakeholders who depend upon and impact landscape resources, including farmers, local and indigenous communities, NGOs, local governments and businesses. However, efforts to advance ‘integrated landscape management’ remain fragmented and under-resourced. The challenge is to unlock the transformative potential of inclusive landscape partnerships and scale their impact.

‘1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People’ is a new global collaborative designing innovations to serve their needs:
* A digital landscape management platform and integrated tools to organize, plan, fund, implement and evaluate landscape action.
* Finance innovations for landscape-regenerating investment portfolios that meet locally-prioritized landscape goals.
* Organized to put locally-led landscape initiatives in the drivers’ seat, while connecting them with potential allies and investors.
*Institutionalizing local capacity-building for landscape management.

Join Sara J. Scherr, President & CEO, EcoAgriculture Partners and Jim Fruchterman, Director, Tech Matters (Skoll Fellow) to learn more about integrated landscape management and 1000 Landscapes and contribute your design ideas.
