Alexander Wolk

Biography

Alexander Wolk is the Grants and Program Associate for Climate and Water at the Skoll Global Threats Fund. In his role, Alex provides project management, operations, and planning support while managing both teams’ grant portfolios. To that end, he assists in maintaining partner relationships and monitoring grants from concept to conclusion. Before joining SGTF, he served as a project manager for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection where he oversaw innovative urban water projects with a focus on green infrastructure, climate resilience, and water resource protection. Among his accomplishments, Alex worked with environmental advocates to rewrite the New York City’s Green Roof Tax Abatement policy and led citywide efforts to adopt EPA water pollution control measures. Prior to his public sector work, Alex administered a $6 million grant fund for Microsoft’s Community Affairs program in Latin America, and served as a liaison to non-profit, government, and multilateral organizations in Washington, D.C., collaborating to finance digital literacy programs in 18 countries throughout the Americas.

Alex holds a B.A. in the Social Sciences from the Residential College at the University of Michigan, and an M.A. in Urban Planning from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service.
