Biography
Jonathan Kealing is the executive editor for PRI.org. He is responsible for overseeing the editorial decisions made by PRI's digital editorial team, including reporters, editors and the company's social media journalists. He also manages strategic partnerships with other journalism outlets and various PRI shows. Since joining PRI in 2011, Kealing has moved up the ranks through various editorial leadership roles until being named executive editor in late 2016.
Previously, Kealing was the assistant director of digital media strategy for The World Company, a newspaper and TV company in Kansas that has been hailed for its innovative efforts around convergence journalism and new media. In particular, he was integral to the launch of several niche journalism sites that make the community part of the storytelling. The first was a health journalism site that focused on solutions-storytelling.
Prior to that, he worked as a reporter for the Lawrence Journal-World, covering higher education in the state of Kansas for web, print and TV. His work has been recognized by Editor and Publisher, the Associated Press Media Editors, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, the Radio Television Digital News Association and other national and regional organizations. In addition, Kealing is a past president of the board of directors of the Minnesota Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife and two children.
