Biography
Chris Smith leads the Ceres Individual Giving team and oversees development events and marketing. He joined Ceres in February 2018 as the organization’s first Development Director for the California office. Prior to Ceres, Chris served as Director of Development and External Relations at the Center for Ecoliteracy, a nonprofit that advances ecological education, where he facilitated double digit year-over-year growth in revenue and directed program development, communications, and policy-related efforts. He also served on the founding team of the Marin School of Environmental Leadership. Previously, Chris led several nonprofit arts organizations, including Magic Theater in San Francisco (2003-2008), where he produced 24 world premieres, and the Obie Award-winning Youngblood in New York City (1994-2003), which he co-founded. Chris is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University. He lives in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
