Biography

Andrea Garcia (Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara and Mexican) is a Physician Specialist at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, where she spends her clinical time at the American Indian Counseling Center. She also has the privilege of focusing on the structural determinants of health for the American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) community through issue areas such as homelessness, placemaking, data equity, narrative change, and policy advocacy. Dr. Garcia serves on many boards but is most proud to be one of the founding members of the AIAN Housing Collaborative, a group of AIAN community based organizations and tribes whose aim is to build community and organizational capacity to better serve unhoused relatives by community-led grantmaking. Dr. Garcia's dream is to build a cultural/economic/healing space in LA for her community to call home, a home where true healing can begin.
