Biography

Bruce Au is the Secretary-General of the Yidan Prize Foundation, where he leads efforts in designing and implementing strategic initiatives that further the foundation’s mission: creating a better world through education. To date, the Yidan Prize Foundation has awarded a total of HK$540 million (approximately US$69.2 million) to support 21 laureates, recognizing outstanding achievements and scaling innovative work in over 50 countries.

Bruce has over two decades of experience in strategic advisory, management, and philanthropy. He was a lead grant-maker in education, youth development, and poverty alleviation at The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Before that, he was a founding director at New York-based nonprofit Character Lab and a strategy consultant at Dalberg Global Development Advisors. He was also an inaugural Global Governance Futures fellow of the Robert Bosch Foundation Multilateral Dialogues program.

Bruce holds a BSc from MIT and an MPA in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School.
