Biography
Ntakamaze is a refugee leader with 28 years of displacement experience and Executive Director of CIYOTA, a Refugee-Led Organisation advancing access to quality education and skills development for refugees, internally displaced persons, and host communities in East and Central Africa. Under his leadership, CIYOTA has grown into a leading regional actor, supporting over 1.25 million displaced children, youth, and women through inclusive education, vocational training, and livelihoods programs. He previously served as a Research Assistant at the Refugee Study Centre of the University of Oxford and as a Fellow with AL for Education, contributing to research and practice on refugee economies and education in displacement contexts. In 2024, he received the Gene Dewey Refugee Award for his contributions to refugee education and community-driven development.
