He holds a doctorate in architecture and urbanism from the University of São Paulo and is a professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He has worked in social mobilization for over a decade, having led major civil society campaigns in Brazil. He is the author of the book "A Razão dos Centavos" (The Reason for Cents), about urban crisis and social demonstrations in Brazil (a finalist for the Jabuti Prize, one of the most important in the country). He publishes articles in outlets such as Revista Piauí and the Folha de São Paulo newspaper.
