Dr Ahmed Ogwell is President & CEO of VillageReach; a respected global health leader with 3 decades of experience in health diplomacy, health security, and health systems strengthening at national, regional, and global levels. VillageReach is a global non-profit that works to build responsive primary health care systems that deliver health products and services to the most under-reached.
Ahmed was previously VP for Global Health Strategy at the UN Foundation; the founding Deputy Director and Acting Director-General of the Africa CDC, where he led Africa’s complex response to the COVID-19 pandemic and other major health threats; and held distinguished senior positions in WHO and the MoH in Kenya.
He's a Kenyan national, an alumnus of the University of Nairobi, the University of Bergen, Harvard Business School, and a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Public Health.
