Biography
Andrei Fernández (1983) is an independent curator, researcher, and a cross-cultural promoter. Her work is rooted in the north of Argentina. She proposes projects that intertwine social economy, contemporary art and literature. Her practice is developed in collaboration with craftswomen, artists, activists and researchers.
Since 2017 she has been working closely with weavers from the Wichí people of the Gran Chaco region. As a result of this joint work, the weavers' collective Silät was created, which brings together more than a hundred women, from which they question colonialist mandates and categories by carrying out actions from communities in rural territories in alliance with different institutions.
She is currently working on the creation of a Union of weavers, artists and activists from the north of Argentina through the project Textiles Seeds, which brings together twelve women's collectives and researchers from Argentina in connection with the 99 Questions Programme.
