Biography
April Brewer Kainer is an experienced philanthropic advisor specializing in global health, community development, education, the environment, and the arts. As Program Director at the Caerus Foundation, she oversees a grant portfolio supporting 80+ organizations around the globe. With expertise in grant evaluation, strategic planning, and relationship management, April has spearheaded impactful international initiatives, including facilitating investor visits to Angola, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Ukraine. Her background includes roles at City Year, Inc., Polk Bros. Foundation, the Office of Congressman Richard Neal (D-MA), and she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia. During her academic tenure, April was a David L. Boren Fellow through the National Security Education Program, and a was a University of Chicago Social Innovation Fellow. April holds a Master’s in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and a BA in Communications from The American University.
