Biography
Armine Afeyan is a first-generation American with Armenian and Swedish nationalities. She is the CEO of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative, which funds and celebrates grassroots humanitarian leaders who have collectively impacted the lives of tens of millions of people since its founding in 2015. A champion of localization, Aurora emphasizes the “human in humanitarian”, supporting individual local actors as a complement to the traditional institutional aid system. Prior to Aurora, Armine spent over a decade scaling consumer-oriented technology companies, most recently at Wayfair, where she led businesses in London and Boston. She earned her BA in Political Science from Yale University, where she was also a four-year varsity crew athlete. Armine received her MBA from INSEAD. She proudly serves on the boards of organizations advancing refugee resettlement, philanthropy, Armenian advocacy and girls’ education. Armine lives in Washington, DC with her husband.
