Biography

Bahati Satir Omar is a visually impaired Social Entrepreneur possessing over 16 years of activism for disability inclusion.
His passion for disability inclusion is derived from adversities he faced when he lost his sight at 17 years a condition that suddenly washed away his childhood dreams.
In 2014, Bahati founded the Uwezo Youth Empowerment a local NGO that exists to explore, inform and engage in the delivery of alternative solutions to historical barriers faced by thousands of young people with disabilities to access education, health/rehabilitation, secure livelihoods and independent living.
Currently, Bahati serves as the Founding Executive Director of UWEZO. He is also a 2016 Mandela Washington Fellow, the 2022 African Visionary Fellow and in 2016, he was featured in The Guardian among 10 activists changing lives of disabled people worldwide.
