Dr Benjamin W. Wachira is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine with a longstanding commitment to strengthening emergency healthcare systems in Kenya to save lives.
He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF), where he has led national efforts to support governments and emergency healthcare providers in strengthening emergency care systems through capacity building, knowledge development, advocacy, and research. Under his leadership, EMKF has become the leading organisation in emergency healthcare systems strengthening, with demonstrable impact on emergency medical care policies, institutional capacity, and health system readiness across Kenya.
Dr Wachira has served at the Ministry of Health in Kenya and is a past President of the African Federation for Emergency Medicine, where he advanced emergency medical care development, professional training, and policy advocacy across Africa and other low- and middle-income countries.
