Betty Balisalamu

Biography

Betty Balisalamu is a dedicated Ugandan human rights lawyer and advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). As a founding member and the Executive Director of Women With A Mission (WWM), she plays a crucial role in coordinating the Uganda Key Population Consortium in Eastern Uganda. Betty holds an LLB from Makerere University in Uganda and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda.

With over ten years of experience advocating for women’s rights in Eastern Uganda, Betty focuses on raising awareness about issues such as gender inequality, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), and the sexual and reproductive health needs of women who use drugs and female sex workers. She passionately believes that women are born into unequal societies, where their achievements often go unrecognized, and their potential remains untapped.
