Betty Kaari Murungi is a visiting fellow in the Human Rights Program, HLS. She has served as Director of Urgent Action Fund-Africa since its formation in 2001. Since 1998, she has also served as legal advisor to the Women's Human Rights Program at Rights and Democracy, Montreal, Canada. She serves on the board of the Kenya Human Rights Commission, the Women's Initiatives for Gender Justice at the International Criminal Court (Den Haag) and is a past board member of The Federation of Women Lawyers-Kenya. Betty is a lawyer by profession and has extensive experience in the human rights of women, gender and governance.
