Biography

Deepali D. Vandana, Co-founder and CEO of Urja Trust, brings extensive experience in the development sector, from grassroots activism to policy advocacy. Her lived experience as a woman from a marginalized community informs her expertise in gender justice, mental health, social equity, and economic justice. Deepali emphasizes the importance of self-work processes in connecting with individuals' deeper needs. She has led policy reforms, addressed structural inequities, and empowered thousands of young women survivors of violence to heal, reclaim agency, and achieve dignity.

As an NGO member of the Mumbai District Women Inclusive Welfare Committee (Government of Maharashtra), she also leads marginalised women's networks and actively engages in national and international feminist movements. Recognized with the Mumbai Heroes Award during World Interfaith Harmony Week, Deepali is also an emerging farmer and environmentalist, dedicated to building a sustainable and equitable future.
