Biography
Diana Taremwa Karakire is an award winning environmental journalist based in Uganda but covering the Great Lakes Region. She is the founder of Indigenous Times Africa an independent cross-border digital newsroom (https://indigenoustime.com/) centering environment and Indigenous people’s issues. Diana leverages storytelling to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, promote environment conservation and hold government and corporations accountable.She was named Journalist of the Year by the Uganda National Population Council in 2022.Her work has been published by The Continent Africa (Mail & Guardian), Equal Times ,African Arguments, Petroleum Economist,Ubuntu Times, African Business Magazine, and the Earth Journalism Network.
