Ellen Ssuubi

Biography

Ellen is the Executive Director of Wells of Hope Ministries, an organization that provides effective and compassionate programs for prisoners and their families in Uganda, focusing on children with parents in prison. The organization reaches out to over 1,000 beneficiaries with psychosocial and spiritual support as well as running a junior and high school for children.

Ellen has 17 years’ experience working with prisoners, their families and children. She has devoted her time to ensure quality delivery of services at Wells of Hope, and has led the growth of the organization from five volunteers to 50 young, vibrant and qualified staff. Ellen believes her greatest achievement is her ability to restore hope to the children and their families affected by imprisonment.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences degree from Makerere University Kampala, postgraduate certificates in school, trauma and resilience, Medical Social Worker Counseling, Child Protection, and Social Work. She is also currently undergoing a leadership development training to enhance her leadership skills.
