Biography

Emma has 20 years’ experience in social entrepreneurship, innovation and equity.

After a decade working on indigenous rights, conservation and community development in Latin America, Emma ran a global impact investment fund for ERM. On moving to Nairobi in 2012, she set up an impact advisory firm to support clients including the Kenya Bankers’ Association, UNDP and Palladium.

In 2014, Emma founded Tiny Totos, a Kenyan social enterprise tackling the childcare crisis and women’s access to work through a market solution transforming informal babysitters into profitable childcare entrepreneurs. Tiny Totos has served over 35,000 children, with direct and advisory work through Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia. Tiny Totos won the top prize at the UN Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator Awardvand was a MIT Solve winner in Financial Inclusion in 2023.

Emma has a 1st class BA from Oxford, a MA in Resource Management from UBC and an MBA with Distinction from Oxford.
