Erica Hall Shields

Biography

Erica Hall Shields has concurrently served as managing director of Philips Foundation and chief of staff for Phillips Family Office since 2020. Phillips Foundation is a private family foundation that seeks to catalyze innovation and acceleration social change.

Her previous roles include eight years in East Africa working for social enterprises and youth serving organizations include Akola and the Jane Goodall Institute, where she founded the Institute’s ongoing girl empowerment program Fahari ya kuwa Msichana (“Pride of Being a Girl”). Erica has led projects and programs in child abuse prevention, impact investing, impact measurement, social enterprise and participatory community development. She holds an MA in International Development and has taught Social Innovation as an Adjunct Professor.
