Biography

As the founder and CEO of the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), Imran Ahmed leads a team of researchers, campaigners, and policy experts who expose and counter the online harms of hate, extremism, disinformation, and conspiracy theories. He started CCDH in 2016, after witnessing the rise of antisemitism on the left in the UK, and the tragic murder of his colleague, Jo Cox MP, by a white supremacist who had been radicalized online, during the EU Referendum.

Imran is an authority on the social and psychological impacts of digital platforms and the bad actors who exploit them. He regularly appears on the media and in documentaries, sharing his insights and recommendations on how to make online spaces safer and more accountable. He also advises politicians around the world on policy and legislation to combat online hate and misinformation. He holds an MA in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, and lives in Washington DC.
