Biography

Jagdeesh Puppala is leading the Common Ground initiative as Chief Convener and is also the CEO of Living Landscapes, promoting systems leadership for environmental governance and resilient rural livelihoods.

A dedicated practitioner, his entire career has focused on the sustainable management of natural resources, emphasising the role of community institutions in governing village commons. His work centres on applying systems thinking at the interface of ecology, society, and economy to tackle interconnected issues like poverty and environmental degradation.

Previously, Jagdeesh served as the Chief Executive of the Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) from 2001 to 2020. He s a recipient of Skoll award (2015), and he is a Henry Arnold (Mulago) conservation fellow (2017) and a Senior Ashoka fellow (2022).
