Joan Carling

Biography

Joan Carling is passionate about human rights, social and climate justice and equity. As an Indigenous activist from the Philippines, she has been working at the grassroots to the international levels with Indigenous Peoples organizations and networks for more than three decades. Ms Carling received the Champions of the Earth Lifetime achievement Award from the UN Environment Program in 2018 and one of the Laureates of the Right Livelihood Award in 2024. She is currently the Executive Director of the Indigenous Peoples Rights International.
